September School Board Meeting Summary

Board members viewed a presentation that outlined progress on the construction project. As of the meeting, there has been 75 days of work at the construction site. The crew has only had a half day of down time due to rain according to Beddingfield.

The dirt work at the High School site as well as the baseball and softball fields is 98% complete with a small portion of the fields, parking lots and entry way needing additional dirt work.

Beddingfield also indicated that the sewer main line is 100% complete, the storm sewer is 15 % complete and the domestic water line portion of the project is slated to begin October 1.

Looking ahead, the next steps of the project will include surveying and installation of structural elements, concrete work, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Board members also heard an update on WISD roof repairs. According to WISD staff, the flat roof is completed at each campus and crew members are now working on detail work that includes gutters, wall panels and standing seam roof panels. WISD Superintendent of Schools, Susan Morton, extended her gratitude to the WISD staff members at each campus for their patience and understanding during the completion of the roof projects.  “I truly appreciate our faculty, staff and administrators for being so supportive of this project while finding ways to make accommodations. We truly have amazing staff at Winnsboro ISD who are willing to do whatever it takes to put the needs of our children first,” Morton said.
